PROJECT 1 | PRECEDENT STUDIES (Group & Individual)
Tasks
Students are to form a group of 5 students.
Each group will select ONE building from the given list and conduct architectural analysis on the selected building.
Group Submission- Presentation Board (60%)
1) General Information

Fast facts of the building
– building name, location, architect, size, function etc

The architect / Design Ideas / Concept / Dictum
2) Building Inventory

Spatial Organization
-
Structure, Materials & Construction
-
Components
-
Massing / Form
Individual Submission- Analysis (40%)

The individual component analysis is about answering the “why” questions to further understand the underlying concepts
and philosophy of the Modern Masters.
-
Each student is required to write a brief analytical essay with analytical sketches on a A4 paper to show the understanding
of the building and architect.

PROJECT 2 | WEB BOOK
Tasks
Students are to form a group of 5. The group will conduct a research to document the architecture on a selected building.
Students are responsible to ensure that the building is in a good shape and easily accessible.
There are three steps to be done in completing the tasks:
1. Report
2. Layout Design
3. Web Book Compilation
1) Report
A report should be written on the findings of the building documentation.
The report can be divided into:

Introduction (Group Components)

Main Paragraph (Individual Components) consisting of documentation of Architecture and construction

Conclusion (Group Components)
2) Layout Design
Choose appropriate colour and font for the heading. However, the layout design should reflect the spirit of
modernism, simple and without unnecessary ornamentation. Use A4 size with landscape orientation.
3) Compilation of Web Book
Save each pages either as pdf or jpg files and compile them in the web book creator such as In Design Flipping
Book Publisher or Adobe In Design. Students may choose the free trial version or the educational version.
WEB BOOK
