REPORT
PROJECT 1 | FETTUCCINE TRUSS BRIDGE
TASK
In a group of 6, we need to design and construct a fettucini bridge of 350mm clear span and maximum weight of 80g. These requirements are to be met, or else it may result in reduction of grade. The bridge will be then tested to fail.Other than aesthetic value, the design of the bridge must be of high efficiency, i.e. using the least material to sustain the higher load.
LEARNING OUTCOME
-Able to evaluate, explore and improve attributes of construction materials
- Explore and apply understanding of load distribution in a truss
- Able to evaluate and identify tension and compression members in a truss structure
- Explore different arrangement of members in a truss structure

REFLECTION
This project is interesting, it allow us to play with the fettuccine while learning the construction materials and load distribution in a truss. Besides that, we gain a lot of knowledge about the connection between member and also the load distribution calculation.
REPORT
PROJECT 2|EXTENSION OF A R.C BUNGALOW
TASK
The assignments is divided into two parts, first part should be done in a group while the second part is an individual work.
Part 1 – 10% (Group components)
Working in a group of 8 members, each group is to obtain floor plan of a maximum 3 storeys bungalow. Students are required to carry out structural framing and prepare structural drawings for the bungalow. Structural plans should include foundation plan, ground floor plan, first floor plan and roof plan.
Part 2 – 30% (Individual components)
-
To analysis minimum 6 beams (each beam must subject to different types of load, i.e. UDL from one or more than one slabs, beam with point load(s) or combination of UDL and PL)
-
To analysis minimum 4 columns (from roof to foundation level)
LEARNING OUTCOME
-
Produce a complete documentation on structural system of a case study
-
Explore and understand the concept of structural analysis
-
Identification of structural components
-
Recognize, Execute and implement basic procedures of building structure design
-
Produce a structural proposal

REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I learnt a lot in the load calculation of the column and beams. This project allows us to case study of complete documentation with the exploration and understanding of structural analysis. Now I understand more about the sturctural components. As a conculsion, I also learnt the way to create a proper structural proposal.
